Bloom
First post in the blog. And what better to post about than the first bloom on my magnolia tree. I bought the tree for 10 bucks at a Jacksonville greenery event, where all the trees were 10 dollars. It was the first thing Rich and I planted in the yard. I didn't think it would bloom this season, but it did and you can tell more are to come. Its nice to see some of the hard work in the yard is paying off.
A quick word about the battle of the weeds. It seems the war is far from over. I couldn't help but think about the obvious metaphor of weeds in the yard to sins and idols in my life. As I spend hours (literally, hours) bending over pulling the weeds; I thought about how God does this to us. He tends to our weeds, pulling them out of our lives. I've noticed it's the seemingly small weeds that have the deepest root. When you pul them up sometimes the top breaks off. You may think thats good enough, but you've only agitated the weed for it to come back with a vengeance. My prayer for my yard is that as I continue to tend to it, that God would be tending to my heart and pulling out the sins and selfish desires. Because when the weeds are gone, it leaves room for the fruit of the spirit to grow....
